MY STORY

Who I Am

Hi my name is Aliah, and I am so passionate about this work. I was always the one (and still am) the person who sees a pregnant woman or a baby and wants to talk to them, know their story and am instantly in awe. Now I have been able to turn this into a career and I feel so incredibly lucky! I am certified through the International Doula Institute and I am affiliated with Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire.

Outside of being a doula I teach elementary art I am a Mom, and wife. I am a proud New Hampshire girl, I love to travel and explore. We love to be outdoors hiking, going to the beach, snowboarding, breathing in the fresh air as much as possible! I also enjoy yoga, buffalo anything and obviously babies and children

I believe that every birthing person deserves compassionate care during their birth experience. I am a certified birth and postpartum doula as well as a lactation counselor. In addition to this, I have an art education degree and enjoy bringing imagery, art and relaxation techniques to the birth experience if desired. My goal is to help clients find and trust their own unique voice in this process. I can help you do this by offering compassionate care, respect, information and options along the way. It is an honor to join families as they bring a new life into this world. I look forward to working with you!

What My Clients Say

Having a baby was daunting enough but having her there before, during and after every step of the way brought such peace of mind"

" She was my rock, I could not have done it without her"

She was not only a helpful coach through a scary, but exciting new journey for my husband and I, but she was truly a partner, lending a helping hand at any juncture we faced. I am more than confident that she will continue to excel as a Doula and become loving members of many people’s journeys as she has for us.

It is not easy having someone in your house when you’re feeling at rock bottom, but Aliah made it easy to adapt. She has a gift for making you feel at ease, and makes you feel pampered on top of it! She listened well to my postpartum emotions, gave tactful advice, and was insistent on being helpful around the house—my kitchen and bedroom became so peaceful after she tidied for 10 minutes. Especially after having a c section and not being able to do much around the house, her attentiveness to what would make me feel most relaxed was a lifesaver. Thank you, Aliah!

Aliah is absolute MAGIC  She came to help me after I had my 4th baby (4th c/s), and it was the first time I ever had a postpartum doula. On her first visit she bought me flowers, listened to me talk about my struggles, then cleaned up my room and made it so cozy so that I could nap! She even lit candles!!! It was amazing. She watched my baby, fed my older kids, entertained them, and cleaned my kitchen! When I woke up, she had lunch and mother’s milk tea waiting for me. Every time she visited she came with flowers, motivational cards, and a special snack. During her visits she would set me up for success: clearing out my fridge, preparing snacks for me, making food and drinks and putting them in a place my kids could access them so it was one fewer thing I had to get up to do. Every time I would nap and relax and just rest in her care. She made me feel so taken care of, anticipating my needs before I knew what would help me. I can’t express enough how wonderful she is. Aliah’s help made a HUGE difference in my recovery and it’s been the best one yet!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to get a doula or not. I’ve always heard good things but I didn’t know if they would be allowed in the room (because of covid) & I didn’t know if they were worth the money. Plus, my baby was breech so I had to have a cesarean & that made things a little more complicated. But I decided to go for it & I’m so glad that I did. We had our first zoom meeting a month before my due date & Aliah really helped during those last few stressful weeks. She was very thoughtful & supportive and sent me helpful tips plus words of encouragement along the way. She has a calm demeanor, a friendly personality and a positive attitude. On the actual day, she gave me a foot rub, captured some beautiful pictures and helped my husband relax pre-surgery. It was so nice to have some extra support at the hospital & I would recommend her to anybody trying to improve their birth experience.

Aliah was one of the best decisions I made about my pregnancy. During delivery she was so calm and supportive. She brought me personalized gifts during my postpartum visit. Her presence was so meaningful. I cannot imagine my birth experience without her. She is very professional and always had answers to my questions. She is simply a wonderful doula and I was grateful to have her.

My postpartum period has been a wildly beautiful yet dark place to be all at the same time. It has been a complex mix of physical and emotional pain, all while being filled with the happiest days of my life, as well as some of the worst. The complicated levels of exhaustion reaching corners of my body and brain I had never known existed. The oh so normal discomforts that my postpartum cocktail came with PPD, PPA, rage, OCD, paranoia, living in an unrecognizable body and brain, to name a few. The mental exhaustion of processing real birth trauma, having an after-birth diagnosis of a genetically disabled child, always being the primary parent to three beautiful children under the age of two. The list goes on. Feeling moments where I may drown in it all, and the overwhelming feeling that I am alone, and no one is coming to save me...But then there was Aliah.

The support of a Postpartum Doula came at a suggestion of a good friend who was just trying to get me as much support as I could possibly have. While I am lucky enough to have a supportive husband, family, friends, medical team and therapist it often never felt like enough. I initially felt unworthy of her help as I knew there must be other women in the community who must need her support more. She came into my home baring hand-picked flowers from her own garden, a warm, positive, calming, sun kissed presence that made me feel instantly comfortable. During her time with me she did a wide variety of things including cleaning, watching my twins while I was able to nap or shower, go outside for a walk together, laundry, organize clothing in the kids' room but most importantly sitting with me and processing my thoughts. Aliah sat and listened to me talk about the everyday ups and down of my postpartum period. Actively listening, validating my feelings and truly caring about what was going on within my life. Asking engaging questions to help me work through and process my always spinning hormally powered brain. As a mother of two herself, it was clear she also really understood a lot of what I was going through, which added a layer of comfort for me. Even now as my time with Aliah has come to an end, she still intermittently checks up on me to see how I have been doing mentally, physically and how I am as I transition back into work. She was a light to me and my postpartum recovery in a diversely challenging and personal time.

It would be without hesitation I would give my highest recommendations to have Aliah as a Doula to care for me at any point during my pregnancy or postpartum period. She can easily adapt to the needs of any client, giving each mother the personalized care, they deserve and need during a pivotal time in life.

Aliah was all I could imagine a doula to be and so much more. My husband was initially a little hesitant to have someone else involved in the process but after our first meeting with her, we both felt her support would be beneficial for all of us. When the time to deliver our baby girl came, Aliah was amazing at supporting me through a trying labor as well as emotional support for us both with an unexpectedly tricky delivery. It was scary but we are both beyond grateful that we had her with us. She is clearly passionate not only about her work as a doula, but also towards the mothers (babies and fathers!) that she works with. Her energy was always warm, calming and reassuring. Being a fellow mother, she was so easy to relate with and just good energy to be around. I always felt better after our pre and post delivery meetings. She even brought a special big sister gift for my oldest, the baby and lactation treats for me. If you are on the fence about having a doula as part of your birth plan, hop off and choose Aliah, she is the best!!

Choosing Aliah as our doula was one of the best decisions I made to prepare for my birth experience. Leading up to the birth Aliah was a valuable source of information.

She was knowledgeable, suggested excellent resources on labor when I asked, and was always available to answer questions. She was also always supportive of my preferences and made me feel comfortable.

During labor Aliah was our backbone. She helped to progress my labor by instructing us on different labor positions and how to use the

rebozo. When labor pain started becoming more intense she helped me cope with grounding techniques. When I became dehydrated and exhausted after 24 hours of

labor and asked for an epidural she listened to me and helped to advocate to the hospital staff for my preferences. Finally after hours of pushing and 36 hours of labor

when I had an arrested descent and needed a cesarean birth she stayed with us in the operating room. At a time when neither my husband nor I were thinking clearly,

she was the one to advocate for a gentle c-section on my behalf by asking for a see-through screen, helping my husband choose music to be playing during the birth and

by photographing the birth of my daughter. Having Aliah with us made a very long and intense first birth experience a positive one.

After a suggestion from my midwife I started looking into doulas to support my husband and I with the birth of our first child. I was not entirely sold on having someone in the room with us when I gave birth, but also really wanted to learn more about the birthing process and techniques for labor. I met with quite a few doulas but was not at all convinced until I met Aliah. From our first meeting she made me feel very at ease and like I was talking with a friend. She was always really open with me which made me feel comfortable asking personal questions. She worked with me to create a support plan that matched what I wanted, including extra time prenatally to work with my husband and I on our birth plan and techniques for him to support me in labor. The questions she asked us opened up great conversation between my husband and I made it so he could be the perfect advocate for my needs. Beforehand I was nearly positive my husband would pass out or panic at some point during delivery, but by the time we got there he felt so prepared that he was an incredibly active labor partner and was able to participate in every aspect of our daughter’s birth. Aliah also did belly henna for me before my delivery. I wanted to do something special for myself at the end of my pregnancy, and the process of doing the henna was fun and relaxing. I ended up going into labor two days later, and everyone commented on my beautiful henna. It made me feel so special and unique.
